Toro GTS 6.5hp 22" Recycler - Self-Propel stopped working...

Motor runs perfectly, the belt on the propel parts is fine, but when you press the lever to run it it wont turn the wheels... if you keep engaging it again and again it will work for a few seconds then stop tuning again.

How can I fix this?

Also, I need new wheels, they are all pretty much bald... where can I buy these from?

You can only buy the drive wheels from a Toro dealer. And the wheels may be your problem. They have the drive gear on the back of the wheels. I have had many in the shop that the teeth are broken off.

Red Max Blower Won't Start

I bought a used Red Max blower a couple years ago. I've owned a couple Red Max blowers and a Red Max trimmer and never had engine troubles with the first two. This one was a bit finicky when I got it: It generally started up fine (maybe took an extra pull or two, but nothing terribly unusual), but would act starved for fuel after switching to full throttle. Leaving it about halfway choked for a minute or two would usually help. Generally, I'd let it idle for a bit, gun the throttle in bursts, and after this little warmup ritual, it would run fine. However, after sitting in the garage all winter I was unable to start it this year. It's not even sputtering as I might expect it to do if the problem was in the carburator. I replaced the spark plug and tested to ensure it's getting a spark and cleaned the carb for good measure. I'm sure the problem could be a number of things, but I'm hoping the preceding symptoms might help identify the culprit. Any thoughts? Carburator? Compression (haven't actually tested the compression, but placing my thumb over the plug hole at least indicated that there's [I]something[/I] there)? Clogged exhaust? I was going to just dig in and see what I turned up, but I thought I'd solicit a educated guess or two from the DIY community before tearing it apart. Thanks in advance for your time. PeterRead More

Kohler CH20S Poor performance (Kubota)

Kohler CH20S w/1bbl carb (in a Kubota GR2000) will not idle. Governor will adjust (choke out) periodically (about every 10 seconds or 15 seconds w/choke on). When this happens, engine chokes down to near stop but recovers, unless under load (blades engaged, hard turns). Some light black smoke when first starting and/or when I throttle up quickly. Engine/carburetor seems to have the most difficulty when at operating temperature and/or when under load. Runs/idles fine when cool (at startup) but has problems after about 5min of running. Runs/idles fine for longer period of time when at low idle. Seems to also have difficulty maintaining RPM when travelling up/down hills. I am not operating at high altitudes. Will run for longer at ½ throttle, but still shuts down over time and/r under load (ie; mower blade). I would not describe the overall idle as “rough” but it is also not “smooth”. Automatic choke was not opening fully (possibly 20degree butterfly), so I added a spring to allow full (90degree butterfly) opening when choke lever is disengaged. Thoughts? Some things already done; Changed plugs Checked spark and has nice blue fire Adjusted the float levels (no cracks/holes) Adjusted external governor spring (there is tension on governor rod, so it is engaging) Good fuel flow up to carburetor (and bowls have fuel) Slow speed jet O-Rings are good Oil level is good Removed fuel filter and air filter for testing during repair (still problems) New gas w/carb cleaner additive Ran w/out gas capRead More
