Craftsman 4.5HP push mower

I have a craftsman 4.5 HP mower model 917388630 that has Tecumseh engine model 143044500. The motor has no fire. I changed the spark plug and also the coil and still no fire. What else would cause this problem?? Thanks for your help

Do you have any spark at all?
Did you do anything to move your timing?

when you say it hasa no fire are you saying no spark? If so did you check it with the plug still on the wire and hold it next to metal? Not with your hand hold the wire with something... I will never do that again. If you have spark there then there is spark in the eng. and the problem may be your carb. cloged.... How new is this and how many times has it run?

yes, I mean it has no spark. I did check it holding the plug next to metal. The mower is 4 or 5 yrs old and it ran last summer

Try removing the ground wire(green) from the coil then check for spark, the control cable may have stretched and is not disengaging the ignition shutoff when the control bar is pulled to the handle. Have a good one. Geo
