Push mower won't start by the key cold or warm only when hot
Model 10696
Serial 250004737
Lawnboy
Powered by Honda
GCV 160
Gold Engine
She’s had this mower for 4 years and just put a new battery and spark plug in it last year. This push mower is equipped with a key start. She charged the battery for a few days. When I tried to start it when it was cold or warm it wouldn’t turn over. But it would start by the key after it was hot. I’m planning on having another look at it but until then I figured I’d post. She also put new gas in it. When I tried the key start it sounded like it should have started but kept turning over. Seemed like a good battery but it just wouldn’t start.
Thanks

So it cranks fine, but just won't start? But then you can start it by the pull rope? If so, I'd guess it's not turning fast enough. If that's the case, try checking/adjusting the valve clearances. If that doesn't help, I would guess the battery is at fault.
