At least weird to me.
Was given to me by a friend.. 2 or so years old, 6.5 Toro, Self-propelled, Sure-start. Starts right up and runs great. Love this mower.
Until i turn it off. If I turn it off for anything, it won't start backup and the pull cord goes "limp". I can pull on it, little pressure coming out of the motor, and won't re-coil back in. If I give it 24 hours, everything is great and it starts right back up again.
Any thoughts?

What engine is on it? Sounds more like maybe a pull starter issue than an engine problem at the moment.

I'll check when I get home. It's the 6.5 version of this same mower..
Toro Toro 22 in. Variable Speed Self-Propelled Gas Mower - 20066 at The Home Depot
Friend is telling me that the mower is 5-6 years old. I'll check the model # and motor tonight and add to the thread.
If its a pull starter issue, is that something I can repair at home with limited experience?

The starter is easy enough to work on usually unless it's one that isn't made to be disassembled. If it looks the one in the pic, it isn't a Tecumseh, it's a Briggs and Stratton. Take the plastic cover off the top of the engine, then remove the metal cover over the engine (should be four 3/8" head bolts holding it on) and see if the pull rope recoils like it should with it off the engine.
