Oil leak when trying to replace blade on Craftsman lawn mower model 917.377563?
I have sears craftsman lawn mower model 917.377563 and I am trying to replace the blade.
The manual says to turn the mower on its side with the air filter and carburetor side up. I have done this and motor oil has leaked out…. not sure form where exactly but seems to be from the bottom of the plastic oil fill tube (that leads down form the oil cap to the engine).
I assume this is not supposed to happen?
Would any one know why this is happening?
Thanks in advance.

Pretty good chance it leaked out where the oil cap fits on, then ran down the tube to the bottom after you stood it back up. If it leaked from the bottom of the oil fill tube, you might want to change the oil seal there. If it doesn't normally leak there, then you probably don't have a problem. Mowers aren't designed to sit on their side so a little leakage while on it's side isn't alarming.
