Sears Riding lawn Mower will stall out(not getting gas).

I have Sears Craftsman Riding mower with a Kohler Engine. Every year, I tune it up(oil, filters etc...) This morning after a little of cutting the lawn, the motor started to go out(like it was starving for gas). Low and behold, I look at the fuel filter and it's dry as a bone.I unplug the hoses, before the fuel filter and the gas is pouring out, no blockages. I assemble it all back and she starts right up. Back in business. A few minutes again, she dies. Any advice/thoughts? THANKS!

Try loosening the gas cap. I'm betting the cap vent is blocked.

Cheese, next time I'm at my moms house(where the mower is) I will give that a shot. Does it matter that as soon as I take the gas hose off, either before or after the filter, the gas flows again? Thanks!

It doesn't really say to me that it is or isn't the gas cap. Usually if the cap vent is clogged, it won't run very well through the hose. The possibilities are pretty limited though, so the problem should be easy to find.
