gc190 dies when choke is closed

my GC190 starts easy with the choke closed, dies as soon as i open it. engine is warm.

???

I second cheese. sounds like the jets are nearly completely clogged so the only way the let out gas is when there is a huge suction for the gas to go into, which you get when the choke is on. Remove and dissasemble the carb and soak it in carb soaker, reassemble, put back on engine and you should be golden.

Wouldn't do all that at first. Just take the bowl off, clean it out, spray carb cleaner through the jets in the carb, and see if it clears up. If not, then the full takedown and soak may be required. I'd say 90% of the time or more I can clean a carb with carb cleaner and not have to take it all apart and soak it.
