I have a Champion 3500W for a home backup but it's not adequate to starting my well pump so I'm going to upsize. Anyone have any experience with the Generac XG models? Generac doesn't state the noise level--and won't divulge it even in a call to CS. Everything looks great up to that point but I don't want to get it home to find out it sounds like my mower. Can't find a dealer that will demo. I'm hoping someone here has first-hand experience with these newer models. Also--I recall reading long ago about NG & LPG conversion kits for gasoline engines but I can't find the post. Anyone have this info? Ever install one?

I have a Devilbiss generator powered by a a Honda GX 270 (XHNXS.2702AA). I purchased it after the last ice storm here in NC a couple of years ago and was good about running it every three months or so until about a year ago. I haven't started it for about a year and when I tried today it would not fire. I drained the old gas from the tank, the carb and the sediment cup. I then put some fresh gas in the tank and now it will fire and run for a second or two but then dies. The engine has never been used for its intended purpose since I bought it, i.e. we haven't been w/o power since. Any suggestions? From what I have read here in other threads it sounds like the carb may need to be cleaned. I am sure I can do it if some kind soul will point me in the right direction. By the way what is this quick start spray that is mentioned in other threads? Do Home Depot or Lowes carry it. Thanks for any help provided
