I have a Craftsmen Eager-1 6.75 hp mower with a 22" base and earlier today while mowing it starting billowing a blue smoke out the holes in the left side. I had the oil changed earlier this year, and this was my first time bringing it out. After shutting the mower off when I saw the smoke I checked the oil level and it was above full. So to be safe, I poured out all the oil that was in it and then put in new oil to the correct level. It started up fine, but after about fifteen seconds smoke started coming out the holes again, although much less than before. If allowed to run for any time at all, this happens and occasionally the engine knocks. Any ideas on how to stop the smoke and get it back running smoothly again?

:confused:Help, I am restoring this old two speed self-propelled Honda mower. I cleaned it up, replaced all the cables, the carb, the fuel line, etc. I removed the transmisson and separated the two halves. Inside it looked brand new. There was just not enough fluid inside and it sputtered abit when engaged before engaging continuously. I separated the two halves, removed most of the parts and cleaned them up. I freshly greased everything, took most of the sprockets off the shaft, and basically took apart all the insides, except for the counter weight, and it all went back together fine. However, once together the wheels spin when engaged if you pick the rear wheels up off the ground, but once back on the ground the wheels stay still? I checked where the cable engages the drive on the transmission end of the cable by pushing that lever with the alighment mark on it up and down on the outside of the tansmission before disassembly. I removes the mower drive shaft from the transmission end of the shaft. I noticied where the drive shaft connects to the transmision, the end piece spins when the lever connected to the transmission cable is pushed up. This same endpiece does not spin once the lever connected to the transmission cable is released. I spun the axle by hand each time. I checked this with the cables hooked up to the upper mower handle, and the transmission mounted back in the mower. When I engaged the drive cluth handle and rotated the axle by hand, the drive shaft connection on the transmission spun and did not when disengaged. This tells me the cable connection is OK and engaging as it should. Obviously when I put the two halves back together I did not get something back in alignment. I appear to have some washers left over from the teardown as well. I took the whole mower apart except for the engine. These extra washers are chrome, not black, and do not appear to be for the transmission, but I could check. I obviously have to separate the halves again. Does anyone know what I need to look for when I separate the transmission again? Something inside is slipping that I did not get back together right. I also heard something slipping when I put the wheels back on and spun them. They turned the axle fine. The noise was from inside the transmission. What is not engaging right on the inside? It has to be one of those spockets not connecting to another one? There some engagemnt or the wheels would not turn. Thanks folks, Sean;)
