Poulon chainsaw clutch?

I have a relatively new Poulon chainsaw - has the 'braking handle" on it to lock the blade from turning - CS was left running with the brake handle in the lock position and OMG the smoke... now some kind of black rubber has melted and frozen the clutch - motor will turn over (hard pulling) but won't start... or runs for only a few strokes... this a big repair?.. not an expensive CS.

Most likely it melted the plastic surrounding the clutch. Pull the side cover off and have a look.
