HELP! Husqvarna Drive Belt

I've got a Husqvarna lawn tractor, model YTH2148, that I bought used a couple of years ago. The drive belt that came on it appeared to be automotive type, and was worn. Bought the correct replacement belt from a local Husqvarna dealer, and it won't fit (too small). They double checked and the belt was correct, based on parts catalog.

I've since bought 2 other belts, each that were the listed belt, and neither fits!!

I've been forced to go to the auto parts store to bet a matching belt length, so that I can mow, but it's a narrower v-belt, and just doesn't last.

I've tried everything I know to do, with no solution.
Anyone have a suggestion?

With the info you have posted there isn't enough info to get the right belt number. To get the right parts we need the 954 number & the L0 number if it is there. And there may be a letter on the end of the model number that you posted. Than I can find the correct belt number

Sounds like to me the thing has been changed somehow or the routing of the belt is incorrect. Can the dealer print you a diagram of how the belt should be routed and maybe a picture of the entire drive parts so you can see if anything has been modified?

I've got the parts and owner's manual. I'm pretty sure it's routed correctly, based on the manual diagrams.

OK, here's the rub. The parts manual that I've got may be the issue. The part number for the belt IN THE MANUAL is 5321402-94, which is what I've ordered.

I've located the info sticker under the hood (why I only looked now? who knows). The Model Number is YTH2148-954572035. Cant find the LO number. The sticker also has the replacement belt part number 5321781-38.

I think this may be the problem, and, possibly, the solution.

Just curious - can you tell me what's the difference between these two belts?

5321402-94 is 1/2 X 81 3/4
5321781-38 is 1/2 X87 1/2

They are both drive belts but this is why you need to find the "LO" number. There are 9 different models with that "954" number and they don't all use the same parts! Are there more numbers under the seat?

OK, found the LO number where you said it was - LO21H48F
Also, Serial #040304B004351.

The 87 1/2" belt looks more like what I need, if it's, in fact, the correct one.

5321781-38 is the correct belt!! See how easy it is if you have all of the numbers?

Thanks a lot, AJ.

Since I spend so much time with car restoration, I consider myself reasonably good at "chasing the numbers".

This one tripped me up.
