8-27-2011 hurricane Irene coming, generator pull cord broke, need help

Broke the cord, tried to replace, did not get correct tension, have 3 bolts left over, and one heat shield I can't remember where it goes. Power has flickered twice, need help.

Post the engine model number and any other engine info you can find, the info you supplied is not going to get you many constructive answers. Have a good one. Geo

I have no idea what bolts and heat shield you have left over but here is a link to the diagram. Hopefully it will help you figure out what goes where.

Installing the pull cord can sometimes be annoying. The good thing is you can easily try again, putting in more or less pre-winding of the spring to get what you need.
