Angry Stihl FS 55 how to get recoil starter cover back on, how to line up the 'dog' ?

Hello,
I can not get my weedeater back together. I replaced the recoil starter spring fine, along with the starter rope. I got that all back together and rewound.
The problem is that there is a black plastic 'dog' that goes between the plastic part of the recoil starter, and the metal round end connected to the engine wil not go back together.
I can not get it all lined up and together. Is there a trick?

Also, can someone send me a link to a free service manual download for this trimmer, Stihl FS 55? I have searched for hours and can not find one or a parts diagram that would show how this 'dog' goes into the recoil starter correctly?

Thanks

There are no free or buy Stihl downloads of anything, they are very protective of their stuff, however there are some dealers who will help you online, is your FS 55 the type 4140. Have a good one. Geo

Thanks for letting me know sir,
I do not know what I am doing, but I did it. There is no 'dog'. That was a plastic piece that holds on the gas tank onto the weedeater. It does not go to the recoil starter-metal cup piece that turns the piston which then starts the engine on the trimmer.
However, the recoil starter now slips a little? Do I replace the pawl? I tried oiling it, but it still slips. Also, I must have a little vapor lock somewhere cause the second time I put the gas tank back on, the engine quit. After a re-start, I turned the trimmer upside down, and it idled fine.
What did I do wrong now?
