Eliminating points on an old briggs engine

I have an old Briggs 10 hp engine that uses points. Can I install a coil from a fairly new Briggs engine and eliminate the points.

Yep, just remove the old coil, clip the wires, and put the new one on. The only wire you need to reconnect to the coil is the kill wire.
