Dead toro

Hello, my 2001 toro recycler 6.5 HP has locked up 5 min into today's mow. I opened the oil replacement cap and smoke was inside. Can any tell me if this a terminal condition?. Thanks

Yep, sounds like it. No oil I assume?

No oil inside? just smoke and nothing else? Yep, I'd say it was dead. You might consider repowering it with a replacement engine if the rest of the mower is in good condition, but if it's more than say 5 years old, I'd be looking for a new mower. Luckily it's the end of the season when they are on sale.
