Need some advice on a Sears Tractor that has trouble starting.

So today I go to start my Sears Craftsman tractor, I turn the key and it does NOT start. The light come on and the battery is good. I keep trying over and over turning the key and eventually it starts. Any thoughts or advice? BTW, no real noises when trying to start it. THANKS!

Most likely it's a bad solenoid, but checking with a voltmeter or test light would verify it. Check for voltage at the white wire plugged onto the bottom of the solenoid when trying to start. If there is 12 volts there and it does not click, it's bad.

It's located in different locations on different machines. Follow the positive cable from the battery and the first place it ends is at the solenoid.

Generally on most craftsmans it is under the gas tank under the hood on the right side of the mower. Some are not.
