Loosen gearbox plug on Simplicity 860E (1691900) Snowblower

Just want to make sure it is correct to turn counter-clockwise to loosen the oil plug on the auger grearbox?

Righty tighty, lefty loosey. When facing the bolt or plug head turning counterclockwise will loosen or remove. Turning clockwise will screw it in or tighten it.
About the only time you find threads backwards is when the bolt is in the center of something that is turning. So you may find a bolt that turns in the opposite direction on; lawnmower blades, circular saw blades, grinding wheels, the head for a line trimmer...
