Toro S200 starter gear.

I have a Toro S200, and when I tried to start it, the starter just spun without turning the engine over. I took off the cover and noticed that the gear was missing. I did some googling, and it seems there is a gear missing. How do I replace this gear? Do they break, or just fall off? Is it re-useable, if it's inside there somewhere? I didn't look around much when I had the cover off.

I don't know what this is, or what engine is on it, but I will guess that it has a briggs and stratton on it. If so, the gear is nylon and will break in half on occasion and the pieces are down at the bottom of the engine shroud. Take the shroud off and get the pieces out and install a new gear. Should be a quick job and under $10. Make sure the replacement gear is genuine briggs and stratton or you will probably be doing this again in the near future. I've had aftermarket gears break even the same day as they got installed.
