HELP!! Mtd riding mower won't start
MTD 14.5 hp riding mower won't start. Have replaced ignition switch and solenoid. Engine won't turn over. Jumper cable to starter will turn engine over, but no spark to plug. Bypassed deck safety switch, still nothing.

you need key on to get spark. For cranking test jump from battery positive to small post on solenoid and see if it cranks. (with key it should also start running) If so it's still ignition switch or a safety switch (pto or clutch/brake). Some mtd models I've seen have the frame piece cut and bent vertical to hold clutch/brake safety switch and it gets bent forward just enough that depressing the clutch does not close the switch. I use a piece of wood pole and hit it with a hammer against the switch mount to move it back into proper position.

Do you have a test light? You need to find the problem instead of replacing stuff. Have you checked the fuse? Could be all that is wrong.
