Kohler engine
I have 16Hp Kohler sigle cylinder, OH engine on my backup power generator.
I was working on it today, and found, that some oil is being tossed out through air filter and there's a little bit of milk shake fluid inside of carburetor intake.
I know very little about those engines. Is it normal?

Milkshake looking fluid usually means water/oil mix. Check the oil. Is it overfull and milky? If so, water has gotten in and it needs to be changed. If it's just a tiny bit, it could be just from condensation in the engine blowing out the breather into the carb, mixed with oil vapors/spatter. Is there a problem with the way it runs?

runs excellent. oil is clean. where it was, was exactly where the breather tube enters air filter housing. there's a little "scoop" in it, before carburetor inlet, and that's where it was collected. just maybe finger nail size thin puddle. also, outside of the air filter was sorta oily. I think, it's breather tube doings.
I am not sure how this engine lubricates itself. I know, 2 cycles squirt oil into combustion chamber, so this may explain oil coming out of breather tube, frappe-d into milk shake. not sure on this one.

Yeah, if it's just a tiny bit and it doesn't keep happening, I'd say don't worry about it, it's normal. Especially if it's an engine that doesn't get used often.

I don't know your specific engine but most/all without a pressure lubrication system (oil pump) use a splasher on the bottom of the connecting rod. The splasher is basically just a little finger that sticks down and when the crank rotates the tip of the splasher dips into the oil and just splashes it everywhere. Crank case pressure helps distribute the oil up to the rocker arms on an overhead valve engine.
If you are getting milkshake in the carb I wonder if you are occasionally running the engine for short periods. If so, when you test run the engine allow it to get up to full operating temperature then run it about 15 minutes longer to allow time for the moisture to cook off and be purged from the oil.

From what little bit I know about 16 hp Kohlers - they're pretty stout
I used to work for an outfit that had 4 Graco 733s with 16 hp Kohlers. We sprayed 2-3 thousand gallons of paint per week and those engines would go several yrs between rebuilds, in fact the engines held up better than the pumps. We never had any moisture issues but as you can imagine - the Kohlers were running a lot.

indeed. mine runs maybe once a year or 2 - when we have power outages. I used it last time over a month ago, for 3 days, with shut downs, due to blackout. otherwise, it's stowed in shad.
considering that it runs very well (powers entire house), and yes, is occasional use only - I'd not be worried about it now. mof, some oil on filter only helps to keep dirt away.
thanks to all for responses.
be well.
