There are probably numbers stamped into the engine shroud at the top or on the side. Most likely a Briggs. How do you know it's a 2 1/2 hp engine?

the only markings that are left, are on the shroud, it says tecumseh, and you can see the 2 1/2 hp. I allso went buy a small motor shop and he told me it was at least 40 years old. I am trying to find a carb gaskit/ diapham for it, the carb is old enough it still have ajustable jets and a manual choke.

Okay, if it is a tecumseh and has a diaphragm, it probably is an S200 carb and takes 631893A diaphragm kit, but this is just a guess. Google these numbers and see if they look like what you have/need.
