John Deere ride on mower L120

John deere ride on mower l120 bettery is ok but engine just grinds. Do i have it in the right gear to start

Hello DORBLAK,


From your description it sounds like you have a stripped starter gear or flywheel ring gear, Without engine model numbers posted it's difficult to give exact details. If you can remove the flywheel cover, This will let you look at the starter and ring gear teeth.

To start your tractor, it needs to be in neutral, the PTO has to be OFF and your foot has to be on the brake. I mention all this because you asked what gear it needed to be in.
