Honda Harmony HRR 216 Erratic engine operation

The engine continually changes RPM, it is as if I were gunning the motor. It goes from a slow idle up to a fast rev and back down. Any ideas?

The carburetor needs cleaning. Surging is caused by a lean fuel:air mixture.

Seems all it needed was for the fuel cap to be cleaned. It ran well with the cap off so I cleaned it, replaced it and all is well.

Must have had a clogged vent in the cap, but that would let it run okay for a while until a vacuum developed in the tank, then the surge would start. Anyway, glad you got it!
