John Deere L120 mower deck losing power

Hi All,

Recently the front bracket that holds the mower deck to the tractor broke off while cutting the grass, the adjustment rod was totally bent out of shape. I replaced the mounting bracket and the adjusting rod with new ones, but for some reason now while I am cutting grass the mower loses power, almost as if the PTO is losing it's engagement. Any ideas..........

Sounds like the deck is pulled too far forward with the adjuster nut, causing the belt to be too slack.

Tried that Cheese, no dice. Almost sounds like the governor is not working right. The tractor motor has lots of power and speed but the mower starts to slow down and almost stop spinning.

The belt is slipping. You'll have to look and see why. If the engine is running with normal power and speed, then the governor has nothing to do with the problem.
