tecumseh carb leaking

Hi guys....

I have an older sears 4.5 hp pushmower with the Eager 1 engine.
The float bowl is leaking badly so I took the bowl off the carb and examined everything and can't see a problem I reassembled the bowl and gasket but when I started up the mower it had stopped and I thought it was fixed but after I shot off the mower fuel began to leak out of the bowl once again.
What could be the problem???

Hi skane1,

You didn't start a new thread, you replied to my thread.

You could have some spoo in the needle valve and seat, stopping it from seating, or your float got heavy and isn't floating anymore. If you take the bowl off and try to blow through the fuel inlet with the bowl upside down, you shouldn't be able to get any air through. Plus you can take the float out and shake it (if it's hollow and not that cork stuff) and listen for sloshing. What do you mean leaking from the bowl? Do you mean from the throat of the carb, or from the bowl gasket?

The needle valve or seat could just be worn as well.

I moved it to its own thread.

I agree with the info posted above.
