Ryobi s430

Hello all, Can't believe a search didn't find me an answer but here goes: This is a Troy Bilt TB10CS Rev P00 s/n 1E147DH0390 that was given to me condition unknown. I replaced the fuel lines and rebuilt the carburetor and put fresh gas in it. The trimmer starts on the first or second pull and runs great, with the choke in position 2 (half choke) If I try to move it off choke it will immediately die. If I slowly try to move it off choke it will slowly die. The only thing I can think of is the low or high speed screws since I can't get to them and everything else fuel-wise is new....except filter. I think there is only a low speed though (closest to the motor) and there is nothing in the other spot. I also looked at the plastic thing the carburetor bolts to and checked for cracks but there were none and the gasket looks good. Ideas?

I replaced a 12 hp briggs and stratton motor with a 16 hp vanguard briggs and stratton motor on a 38 in riding lawn mower. There were 3 wires hooked up off the existing motor to lawn mower a red wire that went to motor or guess would be stator, a yellow wire that was hooked to the throttle plate and a red one that went to the starter. The new motor has 4 wires coming off of it and I hooked the red wire up to the starter, the other red wire up to the red wire to the motor, and I done numerous things with the other wires but it was not right. The motor turns over fine but does not start any advise on what I need to do would be appreciated
