B&S Vanguard engine-oil in carb
Replaced the carb on 1995 troy-bilt vanguard 16 hp v-twin engine last summer and was running great. Recently getting white smoke when I engauge the mower. Now noticed engine running rough but starts and idles fine. Removed the air clearer and found it was coved with oil. Also notice oil around the edges of the carb. Plugs are black with oil. How bad do you think it is? Need new rings? Is that a big job?

Hello dick1947,
Sounds like something is keeping the float needle valve from closing/seating in the carb, Check your oil for fuel contamination. If it's over full and smells of fuel a carb clean and possibly a new float needle valve is in order, And don't forget to change the oil.
Good Luck
