Craftsman 31cc weed wacker won't keep running.

This is a Craftsman 31cc straight shaft weed wacker that is about 6 to 8 years old. I've had a problem recently where it starts easy enough but won't keep running, unless I turn it on it's side (either side). I've installed a new carb., all of the fuel lines and the filter in the fuel tank. When it's running on it's side it runs like a champ as soon as I turn it up-right it cuts off.

Sounds like bad seals at the crankshaft.

Sounds like it's not worth fixing, no.

Not in my opinion. If the seal is bad, the crankshaft bearing likely is too, and neither are worth the effort to fix, let alone the cost. You already have the cost of a carb and fuel lines...which stinks. I'd be tempted to cut my losses and get another, since one thing tends to lead to another when repairing these low-end 2-stroke pieces of equipment, as you've found out first-hand.

While it is running spray some carb/brake cleaner along the mating surfaces if the engine tempo changes you have found the leak and can take the appropriate action. Have a good one. Geo
