Briggs 8hp carb

When removing the emulsion tube off the carb on a model 190432 8hp Briggs, I damaged the threads to a point that the new tube will not thread in. Is there a Tap available to order to clean the threads in order to accept the newer jet? I've been told that the thread in the housing is neither SAE or Metric but a special thread used by the Carburetor mfg. Is my only option to buy another bowl, or worse yet, a new carb?

Thanks!

You will likely need a new carb unless you can match up a tap to the thread size.

Briggs sells a special tap set with a 5/16 - 32 NEF and 1/4 - 32 NEF part number 19245 just for this.

I've found that tap kit while searching the web. I sent an email to the seller asking if it is the right tap. It has shown up several times in my searches. I think I will give it a try. Thanks!
