Craftsman Mod# 917258552

Hello. I have a Craftsman Mod #917258552 tractor, 310-0650 hydro gear transaxle and when removing the right rear wheel, the axle slipped out. Seems like it came out way to easy. It does slide back in and seems to lock in place, but still can be pulled out by hand. I'm sure this is not normal. What holds the axle in place and what has to be done to repair it? Thanks

Ugh... not good. You have to open the tranny to put the axle back in. A clip or snap ring holds it in place.

Thanks for the info, thats what I figured. Got it draining now. By the way, what type adhesive is used to put it back together?

RTV silicone sealant. Permatex ultra black should work fine.
