This is a front drive plastic gear box that's having the sticking problem. The cable is adjusted with the correct slack and does not bind. Return spring is OK, lever arm is clean and belt is adjusted correctly. The lever will stick occasionally and the drive will stay engaged. Externally lubricating the lever shaft with a spray lube did not work. What should I try next - Disassemble the box and lubricate? If so any tips? Thx.

Maybe increase the tension on the return spring? If everything else is fine, lube the internals and see if that helps.
