craftsman 21 hp briggs&stratton ridding mower
Just wondering if anyone can help me figure out a problem im having with a craftsman 21 hp. The engine would not run so i found out the flywheel and stator was bad i replaced them. Now it will run good till i engage the blades and it sheers the key in the flywheel.

I'm guessing you oiled or greased the area where the flywheel fits the crankshaft? If so, clean it off with carburetor cleaner and put it back together dry, and then properly torque the flywheel nut. The key doesn't hold the flywheel in place... it just aligns it so that you put it on in the right place. Friction from the tight fit of the crank to the flywheel holds it. If you grease it, the friction is lost.
