POWER WASher PUMP OIL?
I have heard two differnet kinds of oil to put in the pump.
Regular 10-30 and another small engine repair place said he sells specific pump oil, with detergents in it. However he told me over the phone he could not spot a viscosity on it.
A pint for 7 bucks?
Does it really matter can I ruin the pump?

Most of what I see calls for sae30 non detergent oil or some equivalent oil from the manufacturer. Some do call for gear oil. Yes, it can ruin the pump if you use the wrong thing. Using gear oil in place of sae30 or visa-versa could be bad.

OIL straight 30
Cheese I am going with your suggestion of straight 30 non detergent!! Thats what the parts manufaturer suggested.
AJ I dont understand why a small engine thats 10 plus years old would need to start with synthetic? I dont think it ever had anything but non synth.
In your pm you stated Briggs a Strat. Are you aware I am talking about the pump not the engine?
PS SO what is the basic difference between detergent and non-detergent oils?

Some time I wonder why I waste my time! The part numbers that I sent you in the PM are Pressure washer pump oil. The first number is 4.6 OZ of the oil recommended for your pump the second number is 15OZ for the same purpose. Briggs Builds pressure washers & use the same pump that your washer uses so for ease of finding the correct oil I gave you those part numbers. The manufacturer recommends 15W50 synthetic oil - 4 oz. If you PM me your email I will send you a parts break down for your pump. It very clearly states 15W50 synthetic oil - 4 oz.

15w-50 synthetic IS the oil recommended by the manufacturer for this particular pump.
