wiring problum on Roper

I changed the engine from a tecumse to a briggs & straton
now the briggs wont shut off with the key I have to ground out the wire from the ignition coil to stop the engine
On checking the tecumce it seems that the wires coming from the ignition unit and the charging unit are in the same wiring harnes so I am not able to trace them to see if the black wires are connected without removing all the tape off the harnes

There is a diode on the red wire but could the two black ones be spliced together to stop the engine with the key switch

No, if you connect the 2 black wires you will be looking for a new coil because it will fry yours. Just connect the kill wire from the coil to the kill switch.

Thanks Cheese

I could not find which wire on the key switch was the kill so I installed a kill switch directly to the engine
thanks again for your help
