Craftsman Riding Mower - Will crank but not fire

I have a Craftsman 42 inch Riding Mower that while it will crank, it simply will not fire. The battery is brand new, the starter is excellent, the fuel filter is new and the spark plug is gapped properly....However, it is No Joy to get it to fire so I can mow my lawn

Disconnect coil kill wire and then check to see if it has spark. Remove spark plug and connect it to coil wire and make sure plug is grounded to see if it is sparking.

and if you have spark then spray carb cleaner in the air intake and see if it fires on it. If it cranks super easy with plug in then maybe compression
need fuel, compression and a spark at the right time.
