Stihl 023 Chain Saw dies after 5 minutes

I have a Stihl chain saw that runs good for about 5 minutes and then shuts off. If I let it sit for about 10 minutes it will start up again but will run for a few minutes and do the same. It looks like I have some kind of temperature problem.

I've tried cleaning the carburator, fuel filter and air filter but it still does the same thing. Spark plug is new along with new gas and oil.

Is it possible that I have a bad ignition coil or capacitor that fails with heat?

Thanks for your help

Next time you use it check if spark is gone when it dies, it also could be a fuel related problem. These saw's are bad about the fuel lines cracking and will start but will die when run wide open. Good luck

Thanks Mowerdude

The saw is at my cottage so I won't be able to work on it until this weekend. I'll get some fuel line and change it and see if that helps. Do you know what size line it is and about how much I would need to change all of the fuel line?

Are there any O-rings or anything else I'll need when I pull the line out of the tank?

I beleive the 023 saw has one line and is a molded hose, but I could be wrong, there are so many out there it's hard to keep track of them all, call your Stihl dealer or yard and garden parts store and they can fix ya up. Good Luck
