Kohler K582
Hello, I have a k582 engine I am going through a rebuild project with. My particular engine has a cylinder block endplate, or closure plate, that can be put back on in two positions. I didnt notice which way when I took it apart. (I know.....a dumb mistake)
The plate has little bolt holes that stick out like ears at the outside edge of the plate. Two of the ears have a single bolt hole, two of the ears has two bolt holes each, right next to each other. Anyone know whether the double ears go UP or DOWN?
Also, the closure plate holds a big 4" ball bearing that is unshielded on both sides. The bearing is pressed into the endplate. There is a big groove machined out of the bearing housing, I presume to let oil either in or out. If I knew which way that oil groove should be (up or down), I would know which way the endplate should be installed.
Help much appreciated!

PJ, thanks for the help. the part shown does not show my double ear config. but it does seem to show the oil groove at the bottom of the bearing housing. I think those endplates are engine type specific. they dont all have those double ears.
