Snow thrower fuel question

After adding Seafoam to fresh gas, I just started my snowthrower from last year. It started first pull, and ran right up,but the exhaust has a slight "putt-putt" to it.

I'm hoping that after the Seafoam gets to work a little bit,it will clear up and
run smooth.

Does this sound like a reasonable assumption?

Thanks,
daswede

Maybe but that's pretty old gas, might not smooth out until you've added some fresh stuff.

I drain mine every spring (and the mower every fall) as I don't like to use gas that old.

Neither Seafoam nor Sta-Bil seem to burn completely. I've noticed the same issue with the engine sounding like it's missing.

On my rental generators I don't even leave and gas in them. Nothing to winterize......no missing on startup.

If it runs smoothly through all the throttle ranges, I wouldn't mess with anything until you've ran a tank of gas through it with the Sea Foam.

It's difficult to get on the same wave length by the description of a sound and often times it's a matter of concentrating on that sound that makes it significant. It may have always been there.

Thanks everyone for your inputs. I'll run it again today, and see if there is any changes.

By the way,i did drain the gas,and run it dry at the end of last year

Will check back later

Geez, I misread your post - you weren't running on old gas, you said it was fresh gas. Based on that, I'd be a little more concerned about the performance you're seeing.

No problem Mitch. I just took the carb. bowl off, and cleaned it,along with the 4(?) float bowl venturi holes. Bowl looked fairly clean.

I ran the blower again around my yard ,and it ran fine with the exception of a little "putt-putt" at low idle. It runs strong at full throttle.

If nothing else,i got some practice in trouble shooting.

Thanks again to all who answered my post.

It could be a bit of carbon or dirt on the plug.
If it continues to be an issue, replace the plug. They get over looked on these machines.
