Snowblower will not run continuously

I have a snowblower with a 5hp Tecumseh engine. I can put fuel directly into the Carb and it will run. However the primer does not seem to be working properly ( I don't feel any fuel in it) no matter how many times I press it. I don't see any holes in it and it is not weathered. I do not have a visible fuel line shut of valve.

probably the carb needs cleaned and I just had one of those where the primer failed to work because it needed a new bowl gasket to make a proper seal

Thanks

If I can get my garage above 30 degrees, I will clean carb and recheck.

I would say the needle valve is sticking in the seat. and not letting the float drop and gas not getting in. Disassemble carb, soak in carb cleaner, install new seat, needle , and bowl gasket, after you have completley rinsed the carb out and run a wire bread tie thru all the passages mto clean out anything left and reassemble. Take you primer bulb and blow air thru the hose that connects to it. if the bulb expands, it isn't leaking. When you have this finished, it will probably stay running.
