Toro riding mower

I asked a question about brakes on my toro model #71185-serial number 6902590.i have problem stopping brakes don't work well.Does the braking on my model use a cable,belt or pads?Thank you for any help

There is a disc brake on the right side of the transmission easier to see if you remove the right side wheel assy.

Usually you can tighten the 1/2" nut in the center of the disc brake caliper to tighten/adjust it to stop better. Sometimes the brake has to come off and be taken apart/cleaned up because it gets rusted solid. The brake pads may also be worn out.

Tecumseh Snow King snowblower engine surges, even after new carb

I have a 10hp Tecumseh Snow King snow blower engine that surges. Instead of rebuilding the carb, I found you can order a new one (Oregon brand) for about $25 on Amazon. So I did that and installed it. Still surges, although it's slightly better. Also, I held the linkage still between the governor and carb and it still surged, so that should rule out the governor linkage as a problem, I believe. Gas is only a month old and was treated with Stabil when I first got it, so that should rule that out. What else could be causing it to surge? Could the vacuum tube that goes to the carb be causing that if it's too loose on that little inlet on the carb? It stays on there snugly but the tube is a bit expanded where it connects on the carb. When shift control is moved forward to power shift position and traction lever is engaged, only the latch mechanism releases. The wheels don't go in reverse. Reverse works fine when selected via the shift control. According to the service manual, "When the shift lever is pushed into the Power Shift slot, a tab on the index wheel contacts a tab on the reverse bellcrank every other time the Power Shift is cycled." With the control box attached to the machine I can observe this area. I see the index wheel turn but the tabs do not contact the reverse bellcrank tab, so no reverse. It's difficult to figure out which surface of these index wheel tabs is supposed to contact the reverse bellcrank tab. Is there a common part that fails in this area? The indexing mechanism seems to be intact, just not aligning with the reverse bellcrank tab. Bought new in 1997. MikeRead More
