Honda ES6500 Generator Problems

I have a mid-90's ES6500 generator with a couple issues. First issue is that when I open up the air cleaner, I find a fairly decent amount of engine oil inside the housing. What causes this? Second, after running for about a half hour, it will stall out (even under load). I would have thought that it might be a coil, but it will start right back up. After restarting, it may run for another 15-20 minutes and stall again. Any ideas??

I would start with an oil change. Condensation in the oil may will cause foaming, which may be causing your oil monitor to shut the engine down, and it seems possible that it could also be carrying excess residue back through the ventilation system.

This is after fresh oil change, new plugs, and air filter
