Toro Tiller engine replacement help

I recently bought a 1975 Toro 3hp Rototiller which has a bad engine. I'm looking to replace the engine with something similar but wondering if I will have a hard time finding the right fitting engine.

The motor on it did have a reverse shaft as seen in the picture below. I heard I can still use the tiller without a reverse pulley.

Are most small engines pretty universal in their dimension from the mounting plate to the output shaft location?

Engine: Tecumseh H35-45437k

Some like size engines have similar mounting patterns and crankshafts, but not all. Measuring is the best way to know what will work.
