Craftsman mower with wrong deck?
My father recently purchased a craftsman riding lawnmower at an auction. The mower had the deck off and sitting next to it. Once we got it home and started working on it we realized that the deck appears to be craftsman but does not appear to mount to his mower. I can provide more info if necessary but this is what i have right now.
This is his mower:
and this is the deck he has:

The manual shows one bracket in the front as opposed to this one having two. Also the brackets on top appear to be further back on the deck in the manual.
Im fairly certain the deck is wrong. I guess I'm looking to verify that. Is there any chance this deck can work on the mower? If not, what deck am i looking for? Thank you!
Note: these are pictures I found on google but I can take some if necessary.

Well, they both appear to have been manufactured by MTD, so have that in common anyway, and the deck appears to be an appropriate size for the tractor. Beyond that, the front arms on the deck should mount directly to the frame of the tractor, so the first place to start would be, with the deck positioned under the tractor, to see if you have common mounting holes, or maybe pins that the holes on the brackets slip over, and then held in place with a hair pin. After that, it's a matter of seeing if there is a place that the rear brackets fasten, and if the belt is in somewhat relative alignment with the bottom sheave on the engine. You will probably find that there is a cable hanging from the bottom side of the height adjusting lever, which probably connects to a point on the deck with a small clevis pin. You should be able to find parts breakdowns at searspartsdirect.com

If you will post the model number off your mower Iam sure someone on here can tell you more. The deck you have pictured is an older model Craftsman and will not work on your mower. Google your model number and you can come up with a deck Iam sure. Like aka says searsdirect will show you the deck you need. Good luck.

No, not MTD. This is made by AYP/Husquvarna. Both the mower and the deck. The deck is incorrect for this mower though. These decks are in pretty high demand though, so you may be able to sell it for enough to buy a good used one like you need. The deck shown is different from the one shown on the mower. The one that is on the mower looks to be the right one... not the same deck in both pics. ???
