17 hp Murray engine won't start after I

Changed the starter.. I got a new starter put it on charged the battery and it would not start.. I checked the fuse its ok..
What would cause the engine NOT TO START.. It was starting fine just hit a bad spot in starter put in new one and NO START..

Does the engine crank?? Check to see if it has spark, check to see if it is getting gas.

What did the old starter do to make you change it? There are a lot of things that would cause one not to , but is it even turning over? I get the impression that it's not even turning over. If not, check for power at the small trigger wire plugged onto the solenoid when turning the key to "start".
If it cranks but won't start, check for the kill wire behind the starter. It might be pinched between the starter and engine block.

If it doesn't even crank or turn over you might check the fuse near starter solenoid.
