This is the mower version of the 2010 JD farm tractor?

Are you down to the flywheel with a single center nut and you need to get it off the end of the crankshaft?

It's a lawn mower. If you have a steering wheel puller, use it, or go to Autozone and rent one (they are free to rent, just leave a deposit). There are holes in the top of the flywheel for the puller bolts.

I use a ratchet strap around the flywheel to a 2x4 to prevent it from rotating and it leaves your hand free.

To lock the engine, remove a spark plug and fill the cylinder with starter rope, leave a little hanging out. When the piston tries to compress the rope the rotation stops and nothing gets broken, when finished, back it off a little and remove the rope. Have a good one. Geo
