Craftsman riding mower starting issuse

I have a craftsman rider 10+ yrs old. Has a 19 horse briggs. When i try to start it, it struggles to turn over. The battery has a good charge. I took the spark plugs out and cranked it and it turns over just fine. Put them back in and it struggles. Any suggestions?

How old is the battery? An old one can show a good charge at rest but can't deliver the big surge of power needed for starting. Also clean the battery cable connections and make sure the bolts are tight.

The battery was new last fall. Everything is tight and corrosion free

It would help to know which engine you have. Some have different problem areas than others.
