John Deere 125

I searched but didn't find anything.. Also looked on the engine & didn't see anything... Just a simple question.

I have a John Deere 125 with a 20 hp Briggs & Stratton with twin overhead valve. I bought it new in 2005 I think.

What motor oil do you guys recommend? Using the mower to mow a standard 100 X 150 lot in town (w/house) about every week or so in northeast Louisiana.

I am just assuming Havoline 10W 30 or 10W 40 is good?

As usual, Thanks in advance

Either one should be fine. Be sure to change your oil and filter - if you have one - seasonally

Briggs suggests Synthetic 5W-30.

In Louisiana, you probably don't have need for a multi weight oil. I'd suggest going with straight SAE30 unless you use a synthetic oil like the 5w-30. Any major brand oil is fine.
