Briggs 14.5 HP replacing 12.5Hp

Hello, I have just purchased a new 14.5 vertical model 31A507 Briggs engine to replace an old Briggs 12.5 model 284707 on a Murry riding mower. The wiring is different. Can anyone advise me on the wiring. I have a 4 pin connector with grey black orange and red coming off the new engine, and a red and white 2 pin coming off the mower with also a thick black with term that goes to starter and two pin headlight wires. Thanks

Briggs 14.5 HP fuel shut off wire

I've installed a Briggs 14.5 engine on my old murry 12.5hp ridding mower. I'm looking for a place to route the fuel cut off wire that the 12.5 did not have. I need to attach to 12v when key is turned on. Any advise, Thank you

There should be 2 wires coming out near the starter that go to a connector that will plug into the mower connector with the red and white wires. The kill wire connects to the single black wire going through a hole in the shroud over the cylinder. You didn't mention that one coming from the mower... it's probably a single black wire. Does the new engine have a solenoid on the bottom of the carb? If so, the simplest thing to do is probably unscrew it and put the bolt out of your old carb bowl in place of it.

Thanks for the reply! Yes the new 14.5 engine does have a two wire connector at the bottom of the carb bowl, one black that goes to ground and back to a four pin connector and one grey that goes to the same four pin connector. I assume the black wire can be cut from the connector and attach to the mower kill switch and the grey wire needs the 12v constant for the fuel shut off. Can I cut the grey wire off the connector and wire it to the mower lights on the key switch? The other two wires on this four pin are the red and white that I can route to the mowers 2 pin.
