Craftsman string trimmer No Start

This thing has ran flawlessly for 14 years, with no signs of impending doom.
Suddenly, it won't start.
New spark plug. And I can smell gas after a 30-second rope-pulling session.
Any ideas? I don't want to put a lot a money in something this old, but I would consider a cheap fix before buying a new one.

You can smell gas, but from where?
Check your spark plug and see if it's wet with gas.
Dry it, if wet and then check it for spark. If no spark, it could be the on/off switch or a more serious problem.

Good idea Geo.
I replaced them a few years ago as they were all cracked - from age. It wouldn't hurt to check again...
