Craftsman push mower, model 917.387301
I have read a few threads about the crappy pull cord stater issues where the cord will not retract. I ordered a new one but Searsdirect takes forever and my grass is growing. The cord looks good as well as the assembly. Judging from a previous thread I need to cut a hole in the decal on top? Does anyone have a diagram of this mechanism that will help me decide whether to mess with the coil spring. There seems to be some resistance rotating the pulley but I don't think the spring is engaged.

Remove the starter assembly and check why it is not retracting, I think there are three 5/16 screws that hold the assembly to the shroud, to look at the IPL enter the engine model at partsdirect, 143986000, could be it's dirty or whatever. Have a good one. Geo
